More Than Friends

unseelie is extremely proud to announce Himera's "More Than Friends," the 17-year-old artist's latest EP, and most ambitious project to date. Over a year in the making, this record is the artist's attempt at honoring the friends that hold a special place in their life. Thematically, the record reflects on the strange, chimerical, and beautiful pathways that platonic friendships can take. Thus the title, "More Than Friends," which refers not to the typical leveling-up of a friendship into a romantic relationship, but rather the way that a platonic relationship that is so special and powerful can feel underserved by the very words used to describe it.

Musically, this EP is an immaculately produced and realized vision of trance: its language is all supersaws and sine waves, but what coheres is something much greater than the sum of its parts. Although largely lyric-less, the emotive heft is utterly legible. Every enormous, arena-ready chord on this record is instant smile-so-hard-it-hurts, heart-swelling material; this is the sound of bikes on the pavement late at night, or warm wind, or memories of a summer forever ago.
